That Woman From Michigan
First of all, I would like to state that we are not affiliated with any political party.
This is the story behind the shirt we created, that Governor Whitmer wore on the Daily Show. I was approached by locals in my community who after watching the debate asked me if I would print that reference on a shirt. I said absolutely we will print that for you. I designed it up, put it on the website for our friends to purchase, and was elated that we had made a few sales. The next day we received an order from the state capitol which I thought was pretty awesome. We shipped it the following day, and didn't think much about it after that.
A few days later, it's late and my phone starts blowing up to turn the tv on to the Daily Show! I turn it on and there she is, That woman from Michigan wearing my shirt on National TV. You can just imagine the overwhelming feeling of excitement to see your shirt on tv. Then it hits me, nobody has a clue who made the shirt that Governor Whitmer was wearing that night. I quickly contacted every news media outlet in hopes that someone would cover my story. MLive was gracious enough to tell our story of how our small business became an overnight hit!
Our T-Shirt had gone viral after the Daily Show aired and Mlive covered our story. You are probably wondering how we printed shirts during covid. We had an extra printer in our garage and my employee was also my roommate at the time so we worked out of the basement of the house. During the time of the pandemic, political tension ran a little high and we received a lot of "angry"messages over printing the shirt and became political. I never spoke my opinion on the matter until now. I never spoke about what party I am affiliated with on my business or personal page. I design and print t-shirts and it's how I make a living. The shirt was not meant to be in favor of a political party. To me, it was a comment that had a disrespectful and demeaning tone toward women.
I am truly grateful for the success that this shirt brought me and one of the reasons my business survived covid thanks to online sales.
